Build your painting scope by surface

Separate complete-room painting from trim, cabinets and outdoor finishes so the estimate covers the work you actually want.
  • Identify the rooms, complete walls and ceilings you want repainted, including any color changes.
  • Trim, doors and windows
List baseboards, door faces, casing and window trim separately from the surrounding walls.
  • Show the siding, trim, shutters or doors included in your exterior painting request.
  • Describe the kitchen or bathroom cabinet components and existing finish you want updated.
  • Deck finishes
Ask about staining or painting your deck, with photos of its wood and current coating.
  • Preparation before paint
Flag holes, rough patches and damaged finishes so necessary preparation can be assessed.

Make an interior repaint more specific than a room name
A bedroom can mean walls only, or walls, ceiling, doors and all the trim. Mark each surface as included or staying as it is. Show repaired areas and existing dents so the estimate addresses preparation as well as color. Small drywall patches can form part of painting preparation; larger damage needs its own assessment. If your request is only a scuff, a repaired spot or a short trim correction, the Itasca Handyman touch-up service may be the better starting point. A full wall or room repaint belongs in a Painting request.
Treat exterior painting and deck finishing as separate decisions
For the house exterior, send a view of each side you want painted and close photos of peeling, exposed material or damaged areas. Identify the surfaces you intend to keep unchanged. A deck needs its own description: boards, steps, rails and the current stain or paint may require different consideration. Our shared deck finish guide helps you compare the appearance you want before discussing suitability. Do not assume a house coating is appropriate for a walking surface. Surface condition, preparation and product requirements must be reviewed before the exterior work plan and timing are agreed.
Separate a cabinet finish update from repair or replacement
Cabinet refinishing focuses on the finish of the components you plan to retain. Include doors, drawer fronts, visible frames, end panels and any interiors you want considered, rather than assuming every surface is included. Show the current coating and note any loose parts, damaged edges or operational problems. Those issues need to be identified separately from the painting work. Tell us if hardware or other kitchen work is changing, because unfinished decisions can affect the scope. The estimate should make clear what is being painted and which repairs or replacements are outside it.
Send an estimate request that shows the whole project
Start with your address, a room or surface list, and the result you want. Add a wide photo and close condition photos for each area, approximate dimensions if available, and any known paint information. Mention access constraints, occupied rooms, work by others and preferred timing. You do not need to choose every color before asking. For window work, distinguish surrounding trim from the window unit; our window scope guide helps identify that boundary. We will confirm address coverage and project suitability, then clarify the preparation, included surfaces and finish selections for your estimate.

  • Should I request Painting or Handyman touch-ups?
Use Painting for complete rooms, larger interior work, exterior recoating or cabinet refinishing. Use the Itasca touch-up page for localized corrections. If uncertain, describe the area and desired finish so the scope can be reviewed.
  • Can I request an estimate for an Itasca address?
Yes. Send the address and project details through this page. Coverage and suitability are confirmed for your specific request rather than assumed for every property or type of work.
  • Are painting estimates free?
Yes. Brush & Bright offers free estimates. The proposed cost depends on the actual surfaces, preparation and finish scope, so photos and project details are a useful starting point.
  • Can interior and outdoor work be included in one request?
Yes. List them separately so each scope can be assessed. Do not assume they will happen together; exterior conditions, readiness and the agreed work plan affect scheduling.
