Define your interior painting scope

Identify included surfaces and retained finishes.
  • Room walls
Identify full surfaces and connecting areas.
  • Ceilings
Set boundaries where overhead surfaces continue.
  • Doors and frames
Specify the faces and components included.
  • Painted trim
List baseboards, casing and other details.
  • Retained features
Mark woodwork and finishes staying unchanged.
  • Access priorities
Explain occupied rooms and essential routes.

Request your Winnetka interior estimate
Request a Winnetka interior estimate through the form, call 224-395-4544 or email brushandbrightpaint@gmail.com. Include rooms, retained details and condition or access concerns. Name and email are required; phone is optional. Cabinet finishes should be listed as a separate service request.
SMS consent is optional. Leave the checkbox unchecked if you do not wish to receive text messages. Read our Privacy Policy.
Look through the room, not just at one wall
Consider the view through a doorway or along a stair as well as the room itself. Decide where new colors stop and which adjoining surfaces stay. A continuous ceiling or shared wall may need a clearer boundary than the room name suggests. Identify closet interiors and separate door faces if you want them included.

Choose finish expectations in normal lighting
Review samples beside retained flooring and woodwork in daylight and under the lights you actually use. Discuss sheen separately for walls, ceilings and trim. Existing texture and repair edges may become more visible in crossing light. Ask what appearance the accepted preparation can achieve rather than expecting paint alone to flatten every irregularity.

Make condition concerns part of the scope
Describe holes, dents, cracks, stains and previous repairs. Ask which preparation is included and which concerns require assessment or other work first. Recurring moisture or movement is not solved by a color change. Unknown coatings should be identified as unknown, and a small touch-up should not be assumed to match an older surface invisibly.

Plan protection and the order of rooms
Explain furniture, fragile items, occupied bedrooms and workspaces. Agree who moves belongings, how retained finishes are protected and which routes remain usable. Include other trades or repairs in the discussion before dates are settled. Request return-to-use and cleaning guidance for the selected coatings; different painted surfaces may have different handling needs.

  • Can one room use more than one finish?
Yes. Walls, ceilings and woodwork can have different suitable finishes while remaining visually coordinated.
  • Does a room request include all adjoining doors?
Only the faces and frames agreed in the scope, not every connected surface by default.
  • Will new paint hide old patch edges?
Not automatically. Discuss preparation and expected appearance under the room’s normal lighting.
  • Should I move furniture before the estimate?
Explain what needs moving and agree responsibilities; do not assume every item must be relocated in advance.
