List items and box counts.

Parts status

Assembly history

Prepare a practical task list

Locate: Describe the workspace and final position.

Resolve: Clarify required attachment and support.

Agree: Define accepted assembly and handling.
Identify the product and what is available
Include the exact model, instructions and quantity, not only a general furniture description. Say whether packages are unopened, checked or partly assembled and whether any parts are known to be missing or damaged. Incorrect components can prevent appropriate assembly. Do not assume an improvised substitute or repair to a defective part is part of the service.

Choose the assembly room with access in mind
Describe where the boxes are now and where the finished item belongs. Assembled dimensions, doorways, stairs and workspace can affect the plan; a box fitting through a doorway does not prove the completed piece will. Discuss movement and clearing responsibilities explicitly. Delivery, relocating old furniture and packaging removal are not automatic benefits of an assembly request.
Any paint-disturbing repair is limited to homes verified as built in 1979 or later. Provide the construction year and its verification source; renovation dates alone do not establish eligibility. Pre-1979 or unverified homes are not accepted for paint-disturbing work.
Applicable permit, licensing and building requirements, including any landlord or association permission for required attachment, must be checked before work begins.
Resolve required anchoring before treating the job as complete
Manufacturer-required anti-tip attachment must not silently become optional. Share those instructions and the intended location, including known wall material, support and any permission constraints. Product and site suitability need confirmation; no universal fastener or load capacity is assumed. Separately identify wall-mounted accessories or shelving rather than treating every nearby installation as part of furniture assembly.

Agree the final checks and included handling
Discuss appropriate final adjustments under the product instructions and the expected handover for the accepted item. Keep additional repair, mounting or disposal requests separately identifiable. Explain furniture, fragile belongings and routes that affect the workspace. Existing safe photos can clarify package or room conditions; do not begin risky assembly or dismantle the product merely to investigate for the inquiry.
