Use Cary guidance for the actual property and project
Cary’s permit information page links to separate guidance for projects requiring and not requiring a permit, plus residential and commercial or multifamily information. Choose the route that fits your property rather than assuming every home-related task follows the same process. Send the full address and identify whether the work is inside a house, a rented unit or shared premises. Confirm jurisdiction and any owner or association authorization separately; permission to access a room does not establish permission to alter it.
Cary permit information and project guidance
Describe an interior-door issue precisely
Cary’s online project list includes windows/doors, but that heading should not be treated as a ruling on a particular interior-door adjustment. Record whether the leaf rubs, the latch misses or a hinge is loose, and say whether the frame and opening would remain unchanged. Include existing photos without forcing the door or removing parts. Cabinet-door alignment and localized trim concerns should be listed separately. Opening alterations, exterior-door projects and structural repairs are not included by this page; ask the Village about requirements for the actual proposed work.
Coordinate finishes before furniture and wall fittings
If a room needs a localized drywall repair as well as a curtain rod, mirror or furniture assembly, identify which wall areas need finishing first. Report unresolved dampness or repeated cracking before requesting a cosmetic patch. Define the repair area and any agreed paint work; exact finish matching is not promised. For rods and hanging, give dimensions, weights, hardware and intended positions. For furniture, provide the model, instructions and parts status. Suitable attachment and manufacturer-required anti-tip measures must be reviewed, not skipped.
Keep the laminate request separate from other room changes
Identify the exact laminate product, room sizes, current floor, transitions and retained baseboards. Note existing unevenness or moisture without disturbing old materials. The manufacturer’s substrate, underlayment and movement requirements govern the installation review. Agree material supply, room clearance and any removal or disposal explicitly. Laminate does not mean hardwood, vinyl or tile, and the request does not include structural subfloor repair, moisture remediation, plumbing or electrical work. If other contractors are involved, explain what must be finished before the room is ready.
