Compare refinishing options with the cabinets you have
Sort the components before defining the coating work
Make three lists: parts staying as they are, parts you want painted and parts awaiting repair or replacement by others. This planning record helps identify unfinished decisions. Swollen material, loose layers or mechanical faults are not resolved by painting over them. Assessment may show that some requested components are unsuitable for the proposed finish.

Ask how the old and new finishes will work together
Provide reliable material or coating details if available. Ask how residue, existing layers and adhesion will be reviewed, and what preparation is included. Do not disturb an unknown finish to obtain information. Discuss retained grain, texture and previous repairs so the appearance you expect is consistent with the accepted work.

Keep the surface list more precise than the cabinet count
Specify doors, drawer fronts, frames and exposed panels, including the faces and edges wanted. Identify interiors and shelves separately. New hardware or relocated holes need agreement rather than an assumption. If walls or another part of the kitchen also need painting, keep that request distinct from the cabinet component scope.

Arrange access and care for the actual project
Explain your private kitchen access needs and any relevant building arrangements. Ask what must be cleared, how fronts are handled, where work occurs and what surrounding surfaces need protection. Coordinate other trades before agreeing dates. Obtain selected-coating guidance for reassembly, handling and cleaning; one general drying estimate does not answer all three.
